Shane Esson, Past Chairman, Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association is the 2011 receipient of the Shaw Tracking- APTA Service to the Industry Award. The presentation was made at this year's APTA Annual General Meeting.
Born and raised in Moncton, N.B. Shane attended junior high and high school locally. He graduated from Harrison Trimble High School in 1976, before attending Acadia University, Wolfville, N.S. where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in 1980. Shane started in September, 1980 with Midland Transport Limited of Dieppe, N.B., as a Sales Representative based in Saint John, N.B. In October, 1981, Shane married Claire McBeath of Moncton, whom he has been married to for 29 years. They have two children, Kate and Jared. Both children reside and work in Moncton. From 1981 to 2003, he worked for Midland in various Sales related management positions, progressing to Vice President Sales & Marketing, a position held until 2003. He joined Keltic Transportation as General Manager and remained with Keltic for 7 and ½ years. He later rejoined Midland as Vice President and General Manager late 2010. Shane was appointed Chairman of the APTA in October, 2009. In addition, Shane is on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Trucking Association, a member of the Board of Directors for Entreprise Greater Moncton, Past President of the Moncton Football Association and has been involved with various local non-profit organizations and charities in a volunteer role over the years. Most recently in 2010, he was involved with organizing the Ford Men’s World Curling Championships and the Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic CFL event.
