Wheels Logistics Sees ROI with Electronic Logs

Fri, 2010-02-05

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO November 19, 2009 – Shaw Tracking, a Shaw Communications Company (TSX: SJR.B and NYSE:SJR), the leader in mobile communications for the Canadian Transportation industry, today announced Wheels Logistics has implemented Shaw Tracking’s Automated Hours of Service application.

“We have been running live with automated Hours of Service since August.  Our drivers are no longer required to fill out paper logs; it is all automatically recorded based on when the vehicle is in motion.  We have been able to re-deploy 2 full time positions since we have gone electronic. We no longer have to follow up with drivers on missing or incomplete paperwork and do not have to scan all the hard copies that came in. All of that has gone away,” said D.J. Massicotte, V.P. and General Manager, Wheels Logistics.

“Our dispatch team is also more effective without having to call drivers and see how many hours they have available.  They are able to proactively check drivers’ hours and dispatch accordingly. We are also able to coordinate with our customers more accurate ETA’s and ensure that our drivers are unloaded upon arrival. We now have that type of granular visibility,” continued D.J. Massicotte. “Overall, it’s been a great tool for Wheels Logistics.  We are able to eliminate the cost of actually purchasing log books, we no longer have to keep and file all driver logs as we can pull them up electronically and instantaneously view them.”

“Shaw Tracking is committed to providing our customers with the tools they require to run their business most efficiently. Automated Hours of Service is a great example of this. It provides an incredible financial ROI as well as increases carrier productivity and ensures compliance,” said Mike Ham, Vice President Business Services, Shaw Tracking.
